Why Bamboo?

  1. Organically grown - Bamboo is an earth-friendly textile fiber, organically grown without any fertilizers or pesticides. At Midori Linen, our bamboo plantation is also USDA & OCIA certified organic.

  2. Sustainable & renewable - As nature's fastest growing crop, bamboo can grow as much as 2 feet a day, replenishing itself naturally without replanting. Bamboo can be harvested annually and it helps slow down deforestation. Bamboo plays a critical role in the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Some bamboo even sequester up to 12 tons of carbon dioxide from the air per hectare. Last but not least, bamboo is completely biodegradable!

  3. Antibacterial naturally - Bamboo is naturally antibacterial due to an inherent property known as "bamboo kun". 100% bamboo fiber exhibited a 99.8% kill rate after a 24 hour incubation period, according to a study done by the China Industrial Testing Center (CTITC) in July of 2003. In a similar study performed by the Japan Textile Inspection Association (JTIA), results showed that bamboo fabric has antibacterial efficacy greater than 70% after 50 industrial washings. Bamboo is mildew-resistant to help maintain a healthy home. No more wet towel smell in your bathroom when you use bamboo towels!

  4. Soft & absorbent - As soft as silk and cashmere, viscose from bamboo fabric is three to four times more absorbent than cotton. Sheets and clothes made from bamboo are thermal-regulating, as their insulating properties keep you cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

  5. Extremely breathable - Thanks to the cellulose structure of bamboo, bamboo sheets are so breathable and great for people with night sweats. Bamboo clothing offers the comfort that no other fabric can rival.
